Adult stem cells are promising candidates for tissue repair and other cellular therapies, but finding ways to culture them for clinically-relevant scenarios proves difficult. To answer this problem, researchers have developed mini “stem cell factories” for a special type of muscle stem cell (shown green here). Tiny spheres support a healthy environment that allow stem cells to be grown in great quantity.
